Filtering the Landscape was inspired by Hart’s fall 2019 artist residency at the national park and encompasses two bodies of work.

The Filtering the Landscape series features black and white landscape images merged with transparent filters that express the artist’s emotional response, along with temperature, and color palette as remembered and imagined in the landscape.

The Be in the Wildlife works include unique toned silver gelatin photographs, lumen prints, and pigment prints. These artworks represent a range of perspectives on the park including those of local elementary students, park employees, residents, as well as the artist’s own, and connects back to photography’s tangled relationship to space, memory, and time. A related zine will be featured that conveys unique perspectives on the park shared by a group of fourth graders.

The exhibition ran from November 19, 2021 until February 18, 2022
