Miles Takes
For his residency at BoxoPROJECTS, Miles Takes explored the unique natural experiences offered by the local environment. One specific focus of his was on the brilliance of the night sky in the dark sky context. He examined ways of bringing attention to the visible cosmos through a sculptural installation that both frames the landscape by day, and reflects the sky at night. Inspired by the form and function of astronomical instruments, he made drawings and maquettes before settling on a prototype to construct.
Utilizing metal as a medium, Miles also created works to be mounted on the wall or on the ground, which deal further with the experience of the sky and the landscape in fractal and abstracted ways.
