Working primarily with linen, cotton, and handwoven structures, Lisa Liedgren Alexandersson repositions textile as both image and object — engaging traditions of painting while interrogating the cultural and economic frameworks that determine artistic worth. Lisa came to BOXO intending to develop a new body of work exploring painting and weaving through the desert landscape, but once here, her focus shifted. Linen and cotton remain central materials, while painting moved slightly into the background. She began working more directly with line as structure, as mark, and as physical presence in space. The studio became a place to test scale and tension. Using handwoven surfaces and simple materials, she has been exploring how line moves from grid to gesture, and from surface into installation. The desert’s openness has sharpened her attention to proportion and dimension — how the body measures space, and how repetition slowly builds meaning.

Artist Bio
Lisa Liedgren Alexandersson is a Swedish-born, Seattle-based artist working across weaving, painting, and drawing. A graduate of ÉNSBA in Paris and Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm, her practice examines systems of value embedded in material hierarchies, labor, and abstraction. She works primarily with linen, cotton and handwoven structures, repositioning textile as both image and object while engaging traditions of painting. A two-time finalist for the Betty Bowen Award, she has received support from Artist Trust, 4Culture, PONCHO, the French Ministry of Cultural and Foreign Affairs, and was awarded a residency at A–Z West in Joshua Tree. Her work has been exhibited at Seattle Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and L’Oeil de Poisson, and is held in museum and private collections including Seattle Art Museum and the Microsoft Art Collection.
