BoxoPROJECTS is pleased to launch the 2013 season of artist residencies at BoxoHOUSE in Joshua Tree. You are invited you to join us for an informal open house to meet David Goodman, an artist from New York City, who is in residence for two weeks.
David’s work focuses on the visual mapping of relationships between form and materiality within the modernist dialogue. His approach to a project is comparable to archeology (the reconstruction of the visual landscape premised on its trace). At the core of the image making, is the science of looking and understanding how to identify with environment. David has been walking the local terrain and is mapping the relationships he is uncovering using found materials, paper and building materials.
David Goodman is a graduate of Boston University (BFA) and of Indiana University (MFA). He lives and works as an artist in New York City. David has exhibited in New York, Berlin, Frankfurt and Basel. He is a recipient of the AIM (Artist in Marketplace) Residency Fellowship at the Bronx Museum of Art (2012) and also completed a residency-as-exhibition called Post-Studio Tales at District Foundation, Berlin (2012). David has written for BOMB Magazine and BlackBook Magazine, guest lectured at RISD and is an Executive Board member of Critical Voices / 21StProjects (NYC).
