Annie Briard
Perceiving Through Walls of Gold
Artist Talk and Art Walk
Saturday April 25, 2026 @ 3pm

BoxoPROJECTS 62732 Sullivan Road, Joshua Tree, CA 92252

Annie Briard is a visiting artist at Boxo from Vancouver, BC. In her talk, Annie will retrace her creative research from the desert to the Arctic and back, that led to the body of work produced in Joshua Tree and exhibited in LA over 2024-2025. Moving from art to neuroscience, to geology and myth, the talk will highlight how the artist makes use of light and expands perception in her experimental landscape and lens-based practice. Viewers will be treated to new images from the artist’s recent treks in Arctic Sweden, and BoxoPROJECTS will present one of her large-scale works from a recent exhibition at Royale Projects in Los Angeles.

The talk will be followed by a short walking tour guided by the artist. On the walk, we will discuss color and vision psychology, and (re)discover a few of the installations on the BoxoPROJECTS property. Guests will be invited to try out some of the materials used to build the artist’s handmade lenses.

The artist wishes to thank BoxoPROJECTS, Royale Projects, High Desert Test Sites and Canada Council for the Arts for their support leading to today’s presentation
