Crafting Concept: Oppositions, Connections and the Nature of Form
BoxoFFICE is proud to announce Crafting Concept: Oppositions, Connections and the Nature of Form, a two artist exhibition presenting work that spans the continental USA as well as a wide area of artistic practice. China Adams, living and working in Los Angeles, is a conceptual artist who addresses territory such as taboos, materialism, race and gender with a sharp wit and a personal aesthetic. Almond Zigmund, working in East Hampton, NY, uses industrial materials and patterns from architectural and decorative practices to create sculpture and installations that destabilize our perceptions of space. Both artists are creating bold installations for the exhibition, as well as a limited set of wall works. These artists’ practices’ are seemingly contradictory – one working with language/semantics, a dry palette and an economy of materials; the other creating boldly colored, highly patterned interventions using industrial materials. In fact, these artists are both working to challenge the fixed nature of our thought-based and physically perceived points of view and open us to a re-evaluation of how things are and where our place in the stuff of life lies.
